I know there's already the Manga out there, but would you like to see a sequel movie made? Personally, I wouldn't as I don't think they'd get David back in the role Plus, I think some films are best left alone to the fans' imaginations. I wouldn't mind a series of books, maybe. Although, they'd have to be focussed on Jareth and the underground as I think that Sarah's story was already told. It'd be nice to just to see stories revolving around Jareth and his life. Helen

Not unless they could get Bowie in on it somehow. Though he's kind of aged out of the character of Jareth, unless they do something quite a bit different with the character than the last time around.
I dunno, Jim Henson is gone, sadly (way before his time) and I don't think I'd trust anyone else with it. The company that still bears his name hasn't done much of worth lately, just a couple of lackluster PBS kids' series is all I've seen recently.
I don't think they could pull off something like Labyrinth again.

I voted yes since the question was "would you like to see a sequel", not "do you think they could make a good one".
I can see three opportunities: 1. Animated sequel. Unconstrained by technical difficulties, you could tell a lot more varied stories ... and get the people you want cast more likely. 2. Video game. Largely for the same reasons. 3. Mini-series or series for television. How cool would that be? You could really delve deep and not have to listen to criticisms that characters were left without characterization. You'd have time to explore everything there is to explore.

ONLY if The Gentleman was involved. If they can't get Bowie, they don't have to bother.

I would have to say no. Mainly out of fear that the story would not meet my expectations. I don't want Sarah to have left the Labyrinth and grown up or anything. I would be interested in seeing one though, but I'm afraid I would probably hate it. And of course, no one could ever be a better Goblin King!!!

I would like to see a pretty video game of Labyrinth...
I would might be interested in a sequel but I am going to have to say no, this precious precious movie needs to bask in its own awesomeness forever and ever

Well, from what I understand, the possibility of a sequel is on the tables right now. They made a public announcement yesterday about how Henson Company IS working on "Power of the Dark Crystal" (the sequel) and that it should be out soon.
The company has stated that if the Dark Crystal sequel does well, then they are moving forward with a Labyrinth sequel (though I'm not sure if the original cast would be back or not).
Info for the Dark Crystal sequel is on the Jim Henson website.

Hmmm, well I'll reserve judgment until I see the film I suppose, though doing sequels of 25+ year old films just seems so much like a bad idea to me. :\

I hope they don't make it, as I really don't think that David or Jennifer would be included in it Helen

I'm "on-the-fence" about the possibility of a sequel. What I would go for is if they add VERY LITTLE of the original characters in the sequel and create new ones for us to fall in love with.
I doubt Bowie would come back for the sequel...so why not create a new Goblin King and have a few scenes with Bowie on how the new guy came about?
That way, we can have a new generation (as well as the old) fall in love with the idea of the Underground world all over again.
Of course, I'm just rambling so excuse me! I just highly DOUBT that there will ever be a sequel to Labyrinth.

I must be the only non J/S shipper on here!! lol For me, a sequel would have to be more focussed on Jareth and his world. Maybe I should say prequel then as a look at his past and how he became the King would make an even better movie. Welcome to the forum, btw. Helen

I agree with Helen. I'd rather see a prequel than an sequel to the film.

I'm not exactly a J/S shipper. While I like writing romantic tension between them, I just can't seem them together ... at least how they were in the movie. Now, if you've seen my article about ablations ... I can see a certain element that might work.
At any rate, while I'd love to see RTL made into a movie (or video game ... or tv show), I agree that a prequel would be way more interesting, considering we don't get a whole lot from the movie.

I would never want to see a sequel to this movie, and I'll tell you why. What it amounts to is this: though the basic plot of Labyrinth is eternal, the movie itself is very dated. That's actually it's charm. Labyrinth is a movie that could've only been made in the 80s. The combination of Bowie music, muppets, and surreal special effects creates a distinct mood, one which is very much appreciated by those of us who were kids back then. I am in no way saying that younger (or older) people can't enjoy the movie. Clearly, that's not the case at all. But the real magic of the thing is rooted in that special mood. I cringe when I hear about Labyrinth manga, because that stuff is so far removed from what made the movie great, and I know that any sequel would similarly miss the point. If they want to keep making sequels to other 80s fantasy movies, like the Neverending Story, I say, "fine, go for it". So far the sequels have been horrible, but if they get Tim Burton and Peter Jackson together, for instance, and really dump some time and money into it, a great Neverending Story sequel is totally possible. But Labyrinth is different. No good sequel to that movie could ever be made without robbing it of it's essential magic.

A prequel I think, would be awesome!
