I posted this in another thread, but I think it can be a hot topic to discuss.
There was an interview done recently on the set of Dark Shadows (it's no longer on YouTube) where Tim Burton expressed his interest in REMAKING Labyrinth. All I have to say for that is:
NNNNNNNOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!
Imagine this: Johnny Depp as Jareth. OR Helena B. Carter as Sarah.
REALLY?! I love Tim Burton's work, don't get me wrong, but I think he needs to stay away from Labyrinth. And I don't mind the idea of a "dark" version...but I'm not so sure I can trust Burton with this type of project.
What are your thoughts on this?

Absolutely not! Nooo. Hopefully it's just a passing fancy. I doubt there'll really be a remake but if they do, at least get someone that resembles Bowie a great deal (I don't think he'd fully participate. If he does, maybe behind-the-scenes?) or someone that can pull off Jareth's role really well.

It totally would change the whole darn thing having someone else as artistic designer!!! Absolutely not! Although now I'm imagining it in his claymation...hmmm....nah, still not.

That would be up there with a remake of Ferris Bueller's Day Off. There are some classics that should be left alone instead of remade. No way! If David isn't Jareth then what's the point of remaking it??!! A thousand times yes! David Bowie is perfect as Jareth. It just wouldn't be the same if someone else played the part (I feel the same way about some other actors/characters such as Johnny Depp/Capt. Jack Sparrow and Alan Rickman/Severus Snape). |

According to the IMBD boards, its not the 80s movie we all know and love. Its suppose to a remake of a french movie with the same title.

Plus, he has a 12 year old daughter now. If you were 12 would you want to see your dad in skin tight tights? lol I'm 31 and I'd be mentally scarred if I saw my dad wearing them.....and he's younger than David!! lol Helen |
