Does anyone else miss hearing about him now that he's a bit of a recluse? Helen

Kinda, but I think he's basically retired at this point. He's 63, has an 8 year old daughter that let's face it, he may or may not live to see graduate high school (he's already had a freaking triple-bypass) and well ya. I totally understand why he wouldn't want to be bothered anymore. I wouldn't either.

Yeah, I know. Still miss him though, but as long as he's happy that's all that matters. Helen

I kind of suspect there's enough unreleased material he's done over the last forty years to keep all the fankids happy for a good long while even if he does shuffle off without releasing a new album.

This fan hopes he does release something, but right now, methinks The Gentleman is perfectly happy being a stay-at-home dad, and if he never puts out a new album, we Bowie-fans have his phenomenal back catalogue to satisfy our desireto hear that angelic voice.
He might put out a new album when his daughter is a teen, though

He'll be into his seventies when the sproutlet is in high school, I'm not sure about that. Well, he might do an album but his touring days are likely history at this point, sadly (I think I was born about a decade too late, boo hoo!)
I think he still paints, probably. He's done a lot of painting over the years though it's not gotten as much attention as his music. I haven't seen much of it myself but I know he's done them.

David does have un released material from around 2000.
There are a lot of rumors going around of a new album. He has been seen meeting with a producer recently.
But yeah, as long as he is happy and reasonably healthy for his age and past I am happy. He has a beautiful daughter and wife and as long as he is with them and doing well I am happy.

Yea I heard those rumors over at bowie_daily at livejournal, I'm not holding my breath and think he may just be doing more acting or what-have-you, but OH I HOPE THEY ARE TRUE.
We shall have to wait and see I suppose.

Yup, I've been hearing those rumors at Teenage Wildlife, too. Sightings of him in the studio and what-not. 'Twould be beyond amazing if it were true, but I wouldn't hold my breath. I think he's perfectly content being tucked away upstate with the wife and kiddo, to be there for her in a way that he wasn't for Zowie/Duncan back in the day. Ah, well. I think he still paints, probably. He's done a lot of painting over the years though it's not gotten as much attention as his music. I haven't seen much of it myself but I know he's done them. It's a shame, because some of it is really quite good. I'm not too big a fan of his paintings, but his drawings and prints are really special. Well, I'd hate to go and give away a really good rumor, but I'm going to let you guys in on a little secret:
I've been working with a really great composer on the song "Shadows of a Dream" from the Return to Labyrinth manga and Chris Lie says that if the composer and myself are able to complete our project, there is a STRONG chance that David Bowie WILL record it.
In regards to the song, the piano version of it is done, but I am currently working with some college music major friends on transposing it into an orchestra piece. With everything going according to plan, I'm looking at having that done sometime during the mid-summer....but don't get your hopes up just yet. This is a rough semester for me and getting focused on this as well as the other classes is a difficult task.

I'm not a fan of the manga myself, but ANY new material from David Bowie is like the Holy Grail to me.

In volume 3 of the manga, Jareth sings these really pretty lyrics about how he misses Sarah while he jealously watches her with her mortal boyfriend. It's SO sweet and SO sad. I really hope this ends up getting recorded, that's wicked cool Elenna!
